The U.S. Navy's ''Tr decomposition'' (杜魯門) class aircraft carrier suffered a collision with a ship on its right port beam, resulting in significant damage to the external fins.
The U.S. Navy conducted recovery operations for an EA-18G "Prowler" electronic warfare aircraft that had crashed into the Pacific Ocean off San Diego Port.
According to U.S. media reports, since January, U.S. military ships and aircraft have experienced numerous accidents involving both naval and air forces. These incidents are complex in cause and costly in terms of loss, revealing significant challenges in U.S. military management and readiness.
Accidents have been mounting from the opening days of the year.
A report indicates that, from the beginning of the year, the U.S. Air Force's F-35A stealth fighter has already encountered multiple incidents. On January 28, a F-35A of the 354th Fighter Squadron at the Alaskan Air Force Base crashed during training in its vicinity, sustaining extensive damage.
On January 29, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the U.S. Army's 12th Air Operations Command collided with a commercial CRJ700 aircraft owned by an American airline during nighttime training near the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. All personnel on both aircraft were killed in the incident.
On February 6, a small aircraft, leased by the U.S. Department of Defense, crashed shortly after takeoff from the Philippines' Macatangay Airport. The plane, originally scheduled to conduct a secret mission to the棉蘭老島, lost all four crew members, including three defense contractors and a U.S. Navy Electronics Expert.
On February 12, an EA-18G Prowler electronic warfare aircraft crashed near the San Diego Port, and the ''Tr decomposition'' carrier suffered waterline damage after a collision with a ship named ''Bezikat''-M. The U.S. Navy later moved the vessel to the Greek island of Crete for repairs. Despite claims of no casualties or radiation leaks, visible cracks on the ship's hull caused embarrassment for the U.S. Navy.
While the U.S. government was investigating these accidents and addressing public criticism, further disclosures emerged about additional safety issues and potential problems. For instance, the ''Stok戴爾''號(hào) destroyer was forced to halt its deployment to Japan's Hida Port due to system and component failures while preparing to join a carrier task force. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's office had to investigate an incident where his Air Force plane experienced engine failure and had to return to U.S. bases. In February 15, a MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft crashed during a test flight in the Philippines, drawing widespread media attention. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force has decided to delay the ''Sentry'' land-based ICBM program due to budget constraints and insufficient technical support, canceling the original plan to field the system. Furthermore, it was revealed that all members of the U.S. Navy's洛杉磯-class submarine unit stationed at Guam were scheduled to exceed their required maintenance inspection standards, causing the unit to halt operations.
These incidents have revealed deeper problems within the U.S. military.
