According to reports from The Washington Post and other American media, U.S. Rep. James MacCaig, a former member of the House of Representatives, defends the fact that he represents the interests of wealthy Elon Musk's companies, which have entered into contracts worth tens of billions of dollars. He claims that before Musk, the U.S. could not produce rocket engines.

Media reports indicate that after donating over $2.5 billion to Trump's campaign to secure his presidency, Trump appointed Musk as his senior advisor, tasked with leading the "Efficiency Department" to streamline federal government operations and reduce expenses.

While serving in the Trump administration, Musk's companies have entered into contracts worth tens of billions of dollars with the U.S. government. On February 27, The Washington Post cited anonymous sources as stating that Musk's subsidiary, Starlink, aims to replace Verizon and become the operator of the national air traffic control system under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The report claims that over the past decade, Musk's companies have secured at least $38 billion from the U.S. government, with critics accusing him of potential conflicts of interest.

In an interview with Fox News on February 27, MacCaig defended these contracts, calling them fair and stating that if the contracts were canceled to avoid conflicts of interest, "all of this would help China." He further asserted that without Musk, the U.S. would not be able to launch rockets, and he would personally rescue astronauts stuck in space. He also claimed that without Starlink, the U.S. would not be able to monitor the sky, and he credited Starlink with strengthening the nation's position. He even suggested that such achievements should warrant a medal.

Media reports indicate that the U.S. made its first rocket into space in 1958. Before Apollo 11 in July 1969, the U.S. had launched rockets 40 times, including the Apollo 11 mission.
