On February 28, 2025,浦東新區(qū) low-aircraft transportation system kick-off ceremony was held at the Binhe Forest Park, organized by the浦東新區(qū)建交委. That day, test flights were conducted for intercity low-aircraft flights between Suzhou and Shanghai, as well as flights between Binhe Forest Park and other destinations like WuShan International Cruise Port. This marks the beginning of the浦東新區(qū) low-aircraft transportation system blueprint.

"When we took off from Suzhou one morning, there was heavy mist, affecting visibility, so we delayed takeoff by an hour," said Mr.龐曉明, a pilot with more than a decade in the industry. He explained that in recent years, demand for low-aircraft tourism has significantly increased. Currently, his flights are mainly business charters, with fares starting at 1,000 yuan per person.

"Low-aircraft transportation has reached technical maturity," said Mr.呂勇, chairman and CEO of飛先天空科技 and 若航工業(yè) Group. This is a民營(yíng)企業(yè) that operates the full supply chain in smart空中交通. The group has pioneered comprehensive research and practical applications for urban air mobility (UAM) systems in the field of smart空中交通, launching the "空中飛的" smart travel platform.

Test flight

Currently, the group has established a regional low-aircraft network centered in Suzhou in the Yangtze River Delta area. Flights now operate between Suzhou and黿頭渚, Huzhou, and other cities. In the Pearl River Delta region, they have also set up a UAM system centered in Guangzhou, offering flights between Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Macau, and other locations. This ensures efficient inter-regional connections.

"We are discussing the construction of a hub-type low-aircraft vertical landing pad in浦東新區(qū), aiming to develop a comprehensive low-aircraft network covering浦東新區(qū) to蘇州, Nanjing, Wuxi, and nearby areas. In the future, ordinary citizens can fly short distances via personal aircraft, reducing travel time from 2 hours by ground transportation to about 25 minutes by low-aircraft. Once the network reaches a certain scale, single-trip ticket prices could be controlled at 800 yuan per person," Mr.呂勇 said.

9.浦東新區(qū)副主任余穎 stated that浦東新區(qū) has always been at the forefront of national initiatives to drive socialist modernization. The development of low-aircraft transportation in浦東新區(qū) is an adventurous exploration of low-altitude development, a key practice in advancing low-aircraft economic development in the area.浦東新區(qū) will accelerate the implementation of central and municipal low-aircraft policy decisions, ensuring that low-aircraft operations are stable, manageable, and user-friendly, thereby enhancing low-aircraft flight service capabilities in the city. This will provide a "Pudong plan" for low-aircraft development and contribute a "Pudong spirit" to the national low-aircraft industry.

10.浦東新區(qū)建交委 chair and director 李樹(shù)遜 stated that in the coming years, the construction of low-aircraft transportation systems will further develop low-aircraft corridors connecting major cities and business districts, transportation hubs, and industrial parks, integrating low-aircraft development with urban growth.
