從蘇州或南通開車至上海浦東 normally takes about 2 hours. With low-altitude transportation enabled, a Hang-glider can reach浦東 in just 25 minutes. Soon, such low-altitude transportation services will become a well-established system.

On February 28, 2025,浦東新區(qū) construction and management committee hosted the launch ceremony for the low-altitude transportation infrastructure project in Binqiao Forest Park. On that day, test flights were conducted for intercity air-fastways connecting蘇州 and南通 to浦東. Additionally, flights from Binqiao Forest Park to Xuhui濱江 and Wu Song International Cruise港 were also attempted. This marks the beginning of the浦東新區(qū) low-altitude transportation infrastructure blueprint.

Mr.龐曉明, a pilot with over a decade of experience, shared that "due to the morning fog, visibility was affected when we took off from蘇州, so our takeoff time was delayed by one hour." He also mentioned that over the past two years, demand for low-altitude tourism has significantly increased. Currently, he operates a business focused on corporate包機, with flights accommodating up to 5 passengers.

Mr.呂勇, chairman and chief executive officer of fly先天空科技 and 若航工業(yè)集團, stated that "low-altitude transportation technology has reached maturity." The latter is a privately owned enterprise committed to achieving a closed-loop operation in its full value chain. In the field of intelligent air mobility, the group has pioneered systematic research and practical application in urban air mobility (UAM) across cities, launching its "air-cab" intelligent出行 platform.

The test flights

Currently, fly先天空科技 and若航工業(yè)集團 have established an intercity low-altitude transportation network in the Triangular Region, with Suzhou as the central hub. Flights connect蘇州 to無錫機場,南通 city center, Changshu, and other locations, totaling 21 intercity air-fastways. Additionally, in the Pearl River Delta, they have set up an intercity air network with Guangzhou as the central hub, connecting Guangzhou city center to Guangzhou airport, Hong Kong, and Macau, achieving efficient connections across regions.

Mr.呂勇 continued, "We are currently discussing the construction of a hub-type vertical takeoff and landing runway in conjunction with浦東新區(qū)'s departments. We aim to develop a comprehensive intercity low-altitude transportation network covering浦東新區(qū) to蘇州, Nanjing, and other nearby cities. This would allow ordinary citizens to travel via small包機, reducing their ground travel time from 2 hours to approximately 25 minutes. Upon reaching a certain scale, preliminary estimates suggest that single-trip fares could be kept under 800 yuan per person."

Mr.余穎,浦東新區(qū) deputy secretary, emphasized, "浦東新區(qū) has always been at the forefront of national initiatives, with low-altitude transportation development being a bold exploration of our low-altitude development. It is an important practice for advancing low-altitude economic development in the region.浦東新區(qū) will accelerate the implementation of central and Shanghai decisions on low-altitude economy, ensuring that low-altitude air traffic services operate safely, effectively, and affordably in浦東. This will provide a 'Pudong Plan' for low-altitude air traffic services and a 'Pudong Force' for low-altitude development."

Mr.李樹遜, a member of the浦東新區(qū) construction and management committee, stated that in the coming years,浦東新區(qū) will leverage low-altitude transportation networks to create 'low-altitude traffic corridors' between intercity areas and major business districts, transportation hubs, and industrial parks, integrating low-altitude economic development with urban growth.
