菲律賓媒體 latest reports indicate that former President Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested, and images of his whereabouts at the Philippine Air Force Base in Vila莫 have been made public following his detention. Duterte has raised questions about the legality of his arrest, citing the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant.

ABS-CBN network reported that Duterte's daughter, Venetia Duterte, uploaded a video on a social media platform showing her father sitting in what appears to be the rest area of Vila莫 Air Force Base, asking why he was being arrested.

The video has raised concerns, as Duterte is asking why he is being held and demanding an explanation from the arresting authorities. The ABS-CBN report quotes Duterte as saying: "What did I do? What law did I break? What is the basis for bringing me here? I'm not the one who brought you here. You must now explain the basis for depriving my freedom... Did you read the case materials before bringing me here?"

Venetia Duterte's account on social media has been widely shared, drawing criticism for not verifying information before uploading the video.

The case has also attracted attention from the international community. The ICJ's Senior Prosecutor has expressed doubts over the so-called "suspicious" arrest warrant, noting that the Philippines had long since left the International Criminal Court. It is reported that the Philippines withdrew from the ICJ in 2019.

Earlier reports indicate that Duterte was taken into custody at the Manila International Airport after arriving in the Philippines, following an arrest warrant issued by the ICJ. The ICJ had previously sent a legal opinion to the Philippine President regarding the case.

Duterte, during his tenure as Philippine President, was known for his anti-drug campaign, which garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally. During a public speech, he denied any involvement in the ICC charges, stating: "What did I do? I did what I thought was necessary for the peace and tranquility of the Philippines." He also said: "If this is my fate, I will accept it. If I'm jailed, I have no defense."

This development has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning the motivations behind the arrest and the broader implications for the Philippines' international standing.
