For Trump's decision, reactions within the U.S. have been divided. According to a report by a U.S. media outlet, Republican Senator Mark W. Marlin of Vermont stated that he believes the U.S.'s obligation to Ukraine is limited to "so far." He expressed that Americans are weary of funding the war and sees no end in sight. However, Republican Senator Susan Collins criticized the decision to pause U.S. military aid to Ukraine, arguing that the U.S. needs to continue supporting its allies. Some Democrats have also expressed that halting aid is dangerous and unwise.

"This move puts additional pressure on European allies, including Britain and France." A report by Reuters cited French Minister of European Affairs Benjamin Adagud, who said that halting U.S. weapons supplies to Ukraine "makes peace seem out of reach, as this will strengthen the resolve of ground-occupied Russian forces." The British government, however, has taken a more cautious stance. A spokesperson for the U.K. government stated: "We remain absolutely committed to ensuring the long-term peace of Ukraine and are working with our key allies to support this effort. This is the correct approach and aligns with our interests." The Estonian foreign minister, Zahel Kner, expressed on several European media outlets that after the U.S. decision to halt aid to Ukraine, the EU must increase its support for Ukraine to fill the gap.

According to a Russian website, U.S. pause of aid to Ukraine will pose serious problems to Ukraine, as Europe may not be able to replace all of its supply. Without U.S. intelligence, Ukraine will face challenges. According to CNN, Western officials believe that Ukraine might continue its current conflict for several weeks, even until the summer, before the U.S. pause of aid will begin to have significant impact. The EU is planning to allocate 8,000 billion euros to bolster its defense sector.

"We are discussing various options with our European partners, of course, and we will also consider negotiating with the U.S.," he wrote.

On the same day, the EU Council President,馮德萊恩, proposed a plan to bolster European defense capabilities and increase defense spending. According to a report by a German news outlet,馮德萊恩 said, "We are at the time of rearmament, and Europe is prepared to increase defense spending significantly." The plan, called "Reinforcing Europe," could reallocate about 8,000 billion euros.
